A recent report from the US based Freedonia Group has predicted that the number of cosmetic surgery procedures will exceed 18m by the end of 2012, with demand for cosmetic surgery products averaging annual growth levels of 8.4% for the next four years.
According to the group, a large percentage of the growth in cosmetic surgery procedures can be attributed to the growth in the number of breast augmentation procedures being performed. This is particularly relevant given the recent return of the silicone filled breast implants, which were initialled banned by the FDA in the early 1990’s.
Today, breast augmentation surgery is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedure, with over 300,000 procedures being performed each year in the United States alone.
